About the Festival

Following the success of last year's Scarecrow Festival, made such a success thanks to all our amazing scarecrow entries, the festival will be back by popular demand on Sunday 24th May to align with the historic Wadhurst festival dates.

The Wadhurst Scarecrow Festival & Trail brings together families, friends, and visitors from across the local area for a day of creative fun and community spirit. This year's festival promises amazing, with an exciting trail winding through the village to discover wonderfully inventive scarecrows created by local residents, businesses, and community groups.

The festival will be bigger and better this year and include arts & crafts for children at the Commemoration Hall.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a theme this year?

No – there's no theme for the event. Please let your imaginations run wild!

When and where do I deliver my Scarecrow?

Scarecrows should be delivered to the Greyhound Inn on Saturday 23rd May (the day before the event) between 1pm and 3pm. If you're entering on behalf of a school and the weekend closure makes Saturday tricky, please get in touch – we can arrange an earlier drop-off.

Any construction tips?

Scarecrows should be freestanding as far as possible, so do bear that in mind when designing yours.

How do I know where my Scarecrow will go?

The Warriors will allocate a spot on the trail for each entry that is delivered. This allows us to print the maps and set the questions for the trail Q&A.

Are there prizes?

Yes! We'll be awarding prizes for Best in Show, 2nd Place and 3rd Place, plus a few Highly Commended.

What happens to my Scarecrow afterwards?

If you'd like to keep your Scarecrow after the event, please let us know by email and remind the team at the collection point on the day. Otherwise, Scarecrows will be disposed of.
